Salary: ££39,152 - £49,533 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Directorate for Student Success as part of the Learning & TEaching excellence team. You will be required to build strong relationships with professional service employees and academics across the University, possess the ability to manage your own schedule across a number of locations and demonstrate a solution focused approach.

As the Student Achievement and Success Manager you will provide integrated leadership across the cognate areas of Academic Skills, Career Success and Employability support in order to maximise synergies between them for the benefit of our students.  The new student achievement and success team will play a key role in supporting the University’s ambitious targets in relation to student achievement and success, not least by prioritising inclusive learning and teaching practices and support to ensure barriers to success are removed for all students, and this new leadership role will help shape this team and its work.

Job Description

The Student Achievement and Success Manager will provide integrated leadership across the cognate areas of Academic Skills, Career Success and Employability support in order to maximise synergies between them for the benefit of our students.  The new student achievement and success team will play a key role in supporting the University’s ambitious targets in relation to student achievement and success, not least by prioritising inclusive learning and teaching practices and support to ensure barriers to success are removed for all students, and this new leadership role will help shape this team and its work. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

  • To lead and manage the general operation of the student achievement and success team as part of the Directorate for Student Success, working closely with all other teams within departments and services.
  • Collect, collate and analyse data that demonstrates the impact of the service and drives enhancement.
  • To develop student achievement and success services to support the university’s teaching, learning and assessment strategies including the cross-university foundation year programme.
  • Provide strategic leadership in relation to Academic Skills, Career Success and Employability and manage the overall provision of fully inclusive academic skills development and support.
  • To oversee the University Erasmus offer.
  • In collaboration with relevant colleagues, ensure that the student achievement and success pages of the VLE are up to date and seek new ways to develop and enhance the web pages and enhance communication of the student achievement and success profile using appropriate technologies including embedded social media.
  • Ensure systematic and effective communication and liaison between student achievement and success team, students, academic and professional services colleagues across the university, identifying and advising on user requirements to promote and support student achievement and success across the institution’s strategic objectives. 
  • Manage a business partner relationship through the Student Opportunities and Career success lead and employer engagement officer school business partners that empowers the academic areas and Schools to inform on student opportunities and careers success and engages employers and professional bodies.
  • To provide a first class customer-oriented service to students and colleagues ensuring user-friendly and accessible, up to date and comprehensive services and resources, and excellent, inclusive and sector-leading customer service provision for students and staff.
  • To work with the Head of Learning and Teaching Excellence for the student achievement and success budget, ensuring that we get best value for money for the services provided.
  • To maintain appropriate professional network links and partnerships to inform service enhancement.
  • To manage the efficient and effective delivery of student achievement and success service to the staff and students of the Schools and wider University.
  • Any other duties consistent with the scope and grade of the post.
