The purpose of the role is to provide advice and administrative support across the University on all of its legal matters and third party contractual arrangements, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
You must be experienced, organised, have a keen eye for detail and be comfortable dealing with a variety of personality types in a changing environment with strict deadlines and able to practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.

Job Purpose: To provide advice and administrative support across the University on all of it’s legal matters and third party contractual arrangements, liaising with internal and external stakeholders. To practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
Legal Support:
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and court pleadings.
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports.
- Manage case files and maintain accurate and up to date records.
- Take legal support instructions from internal stakeholders and where necessary, working alongside the Head of Procurement, procure indemnified external legal advice/support and manage the end-to-end process to its successful conclusion in the most efficient, relevant, and cost-effective way.
Administrative Tasks:
- Manage correspondence and communication with internal clients, courts, various regulatory bodies and other legal entities.
- Schedule meetings and manage calendars for external legal counsel.
- Check external legal charges and payments.
- Manage the storage and execution of Major contracts/agreements that meet the University’s constitutional and contractual requirements.
Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensure the University is compliant with up to date HE/OFS policies and legal regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory documents.
Client Interaction:
- Provide support to internal stakeholders, answering queries and providing updates on case progress.
- Take witness statements and prepare documentation for court proceedings.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other members of the University’s Colleges and Departments and university staff.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
- Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
- Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
