Working within the Estates, Facilities and Services Directorate the successful candidate will assist with the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the fabric of the University buildings, with particular reference to electrical and ventilations systems, under the general guidance of the Estates Supervisor.

Job Title:  Maintenance Engineer (Electrician)

Job Purpose:

 

The maintenance, repair, and improvement of the fabric of the University buildings, with particular reference to electrical and ventilations systems, under the general guidance of the Estates Supervisor.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

 

  • Work with other members of the maintenance team as part of a multi-function group covering all general items of maintenance.

 

  • To be able to demonstrate technical knowledge and competency regarding electrical and fault finding.

 

  • Be able to approach and resolve problems logically and have the ability to deal with customers/staff or students effectively.

 

  • To investigate defects, report and correct these in a competent manner.

 

  • To ensure economic and effective use of materials.

 

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation regarding building services.

 

  • To assist the Estates team in relation to carbon reduction, energy management, metering and recording of water and energy use monthly.

 

  • You will possess strong Electrical and controls experience including 3 phase supply and equipment. You will have a proven track record in completing quality maintenance in non-residential and residential student properties.

 

  • Works are organised/monitored through a maintenance Terrier called Badger. Jobs are allocated and signed off through use of Bucks New University issued mobile phone.
  • Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
  • Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
