Salary: £39,152 - £49,533 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Directorate for Student Success, leading the Inclusion, Diversity and Disability Team. The role reports to the Head of Students and Wellbeing to support and promote the health and wellbeing of students. You will be required to build collaborative relationships with professional service employees and academics across the University, possess the ability to manage a hardworking team across a number of locations and demonstrate an action orientated, solution focused approach. 

As the Inclusion, Diversity & Disability Manager you will lead, manage and support the development and delivery of services related to inclusive practice and disability-related support at Buckinghamshire New University. You will take a lead role in the promotion and enhancement of strategy and culture in which student success flourishes, where support of academic departments and professional services is enhanced to develop new initiatives and/or to advance existing provision(s) to enable inclusive practice to support students.

Job Description

Inclusion, Diversity & Disability Manager will lead, manage and support the development and delivery of services related to inclusive practice, disability-related support and counselling provision at Buckinghamshire New University. They will take a lead role in the promotion and enhancement of strategic developments and culture in which student success flourishes, where support of academic departments and Professional Services is enhanced to develop new initiatives and/or to advance existing provision(s) to enable inclusive practice to support students.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role: 

  • To be responsible for the leadership and management of the Inclusion, Diversity and Disability Team
  • Deliver efficient and effective support mechanisms that enhances student study, retention and progression and is consistent with best practice across the sector
  • Maintain responsibility for providing exemplary service standards with consistent advice and support to students.
  • Provide guidance and support for staff on equality, diversity and inclusion student issues across the University
  • Working collaboratively amongst staff in Schools & Directorates to identify and promote new or enhanced inclusive teaching, by providing and implementing equality, diversity & inclusion advice and guidance, covering student needs with reference to relevant legislation
  • Develop, plan and oversee awareness campaigns and training to communicate equality, diversity and inclusion principles to staff and students, this may include close working with others, including the Students Union
  • Researching, developing and delivering strategic equality, diversity and inclusion action plans, taking responsibility for monitoring impact and key end outcomes
  • Produce reports providing advice/creative solutions for consideration at senior university level and/or by committees to meet university accountability and obligations, and whenever appropriate, facilitating their implementation
  • Formulate an evaluation programme in collaboration with the Head of Students and Wellbeing to enable the institution to demonstrate and evidence the success of inclusive practice initiatives
  • Attend national training and personal development events to keep abreast with equality, diversity and inclusion issues within the Higher Education sector.
  • Act as the lead for specialist student cases and service audits
  • Any other duties as directed by the Head of Students and Wellbeing and Director of Student Success
