We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic individual to lead and manage the implementation of high quality experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students —including internships and curriculum-embedded placements—for our students at BNU. The role will focus on academic programmes that do not currently have internships and placements, typically those without professional, regulatory, or statutory body accreditation. This role is key to ensuring our students are equipped with the real-world experience they need to thrive after graduation.
You will collaborate with academic teams, external partners, and placement providers to design and implement impactful learning experiences. You will also establish robust systems for reporting, governance, and quality assurance, while shaping the future direction of placements at BNU. This includes developing policies, templates, and a comprehensive placement recording system.

Job Purpose: To lead and manage the implementation of high quality experiential learning (internships and curriculum-embedded placements, internships) for our students to be equipped to achieve graduate success. They will work with stakeholders to design and plan a high-quality implementation of experiential learning and placements, reporting systems and governance structures. They will work with placement providers to deliver high quality learning experiences. They will set the direction for embedding placements at BNU, including development of relevant templates, policies and establishing the placement recording system.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
- Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of clear processes for the management of experiential learning and placements for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that do not currently have placements (e.g., provision without professional, regulatory, or statutory body accreditation) ensuring equitable opportunities for all students. This role involves creating pathways that address barriers to access, fostering a supportive environment where students can experience placements.
- Build a pipeline of internships, work based/work-related learning opportunities and graduate positions, with a particular focus on module-based micro-placements, and sandwich year opportunities.
- Build frameworks for embedding, delivering and assessing experiential learning opportunities in the curriculum
- Establish and implement a comprehensive project plan with success criteria, measures, risk mitigation, project timelines and workstreams to ensure placements are implemented within scope, time and budget.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., Business Development Team) and placement providers to manage deliverables, service level agreements, integration timelines and support escalation.
- Design and deliver appropriate content to promote placement opportunities to students through diverse modes and formats for in-, co- and extra-curricular activities including personalised guidance to support students for placement searching and application processes.
- Work collaboratively across institutional governance structures, ensuring project progress, risks, and issues are reported appropriately.
- Lead the development and implementation of effective placement administration for academic programmes particularly in relation to placement allocation, implementation, delivery and embedding quality assurance processes such as meeting UKVI requirements.
- Lead the forecasting, planning, and identification of placement learning needs, ensuring early notice of changes to the supply and demand of placements, and reporting this accordingly.
- Create a database of student placement hours using placement data systems, to achieve accurate and reliable records on all processes and procedures related to placements.
- Create a process for placement allocation and the required documentation and systems to support students, staff and placement providers.
- Create a placement toolkit which includes processes for supporting students and placement providers before, during and post-placements, including use of evaluation forms and absence reporting for students.
- Create an onboarding system so that all placement areas ensure compliance with partnership agreements (e.g., any DBS requirements, health, and safety).
- Undertake any other reasonable duties deemed necessary including assisting other administrative areas as required.
- Comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; and Equality and Diversity requirements and legislation in all working practices.
